Meet André Olwagen

About

I'm André Olwagen—a photographer and architect who has worked across seventeen countries and four continents.

That work taught me to read light differently. How equatorial sun cuts hard and fast. How coastal haze softens everything. How high-altitude clarity makes distance tactile.

I photograph what I feel, not simply what I see.

Background

Fifteen years of architecture across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East taught me how atmosphere and proportion shape the way people experience space.

Photography became an extension of that spatial practice—capturing not just what places look like, but how they feel to inhabit.

This isn't decoration. It's spatial design.

My approach

STILLNESS & STORY

Photography for me is less about precision and more about presence. Each image holds emotion, memory, and stillness – an invitation to pause and reflect.

LIGHT AS SUBJECT

I don’t just see the light; I feel it. My work is shaped by luminous moments – shadows in the desert, mist in the morning, wind moving through trees.

CRAFT & CARE

Each piece is a limited edition, printed on museum-grade paper with intention. Created for spaces that value depth, stillness, and understated beauty.

“Photography is less about precision and more about presence – an invitation to pause, feel, and see the light.”
